Almost all pop-up windows are intended to advertise something to you. The ads are generally caused by two different methods, which are described below.

Classic Pop-up Windows

The first method used is where the pop-up window is in a web page you visit; it is designed to automatically launch another page or "pop-up" window when you visit the site.

Classic Pop-up Solution 1: Install the Google toolbar and set it to block pop-up windows.

Classic Pop-up Solution 2: Download and install Pop-Up Stopper.

Classic Pop-up Solution 3: Install and use an Internet browser with built in pop-up blocking, examples below.
Mozilla: http://www.mozilla.com
My IE 2: http://www.myie2.com
Crazy Browser: http://www.crazybrowser.com

Classic Pop-up Solution 4: Install Popup Manager.

Adware Pop-up Programs

The second method by which pop-ups are caused is from software installed on your computer. Software that shows you advertisements is call "adware" and is often installed without your knowledge. Adware programs are usually included with software that you download off the Internet. These programs allow pop-ups from advertising companies to show up on your screen. Solutions for finding and removing adware programs are outlined below.

Adware Pop-up Solution 1: Download and install Pest Scan.
This program is developed by a professional provider of anti-spyware software and will remove many potentially harmful programs that may have been installed on your PC.

Adware Pop-up Solution 2:
  • Download and install Ad-aware. This program will search your computer for adware and remove it.

  • Install and run Spyware Blaster on your PC to help protect from having new adware programs installed.

Adware Pop-up Solution 3: Download and install Spybot Search and Destroy.
This program will search your computer for adware and remove it.

Note: These programs have not been created by MI.net, any support needed will have to be obtained by the software manufacturer. We can try to answer basic questions but may not be able to troubleshoot any software problems.

A law firm for the driver who says his Toyota Prius sped out of control in California doesn't plan to sue the Japanese automaker. (AP Photo/Denis Poroy, File)AP - Investigators with Toyota Motor Corp. and the federal government were unable to make a Toyota Prius speed out of control as its owner said it did on a California freeway, according to a memorandum obtained Saturday by The Associated Press that a congressional spokesman says casts doubt on the driver's story.

    postulate
    \PAHSS-chuh-layt\
    verb

    demand, claim

to assume or claim as true, existent, or necessary

to assume as an established truth (as in logic or mathematics)

    Example Sentence
"If we postulate that the doors were all securely guarded," said the detective, "then the perpetrator must have been somebody who was already in the building." In 1703, the dedication of the City and County Purchaser and Builders Dictionary included the following words: "These your extraordinary Favours … seem to Postulate from me … a Publick Recognition." That's also how the verb "postulate" was used when English speakers first began using it back in the late 1500s, as a synonym of "require" or "demand." (The word's Latin grandparent, "postulare," has the same meaning.) "Postulate" was also used as a noun in the late 1500s, with the meaning "demand" or "stipulation." That sense is now considered archaic, but we still use the noun "postulate." Today, it usually means "a hypothesis advanced as an essential presupposition, condition, or premise of a train of reasoning."

*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.

When thou findest sensibility of heart, joined with softness of manners, an accomplished mind, with a form agreeable to thy fancy, take her home to thy house; she is worthy to be thy friend, thy companion in life, the wife of thy bosom.
